Giacomo Marzi

Giacomo Marzi is a Senior Assistant Professor (Tenured/RTDb) of Management at IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. He is Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Strategic Change, Heliyon, and Technology Analysis & Strategic Management.
Giacomo received a PhD in Management from the University of Pisa, School of Economics and Management, Italy.
His primary research fields are Innovation Management, New Product Development, and Strategic Management.

Giacomo is particularly interested in the topic of "Over Featuring", a series of highly detrimental yet challenging-to-avoid tendencies that lead to the development of products and services beyond what the market, users, organizational plans, and resource allocation.

He is the author of three books and numerous articles published in academic journals, including Technovation, Journal of Business Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Human Resource Management Journal, International Journal of Production Research, and Scientometrics. Furthermore, his work has been showcased at conferences such as the Academy of Management, the European Academy of Management, and the Innovation and Product Development Management Conference.

Giacomo has teaching expertise in the areas of Strategy, Innovation, and Strategic Management, spanning from undergraduate to MBA and PhD levels. He also mentors PhD and Post-Doctoral students, focusing on Innovation Management, Strategic Management, and Entrepreneurship. 

He also serves as a reviewer for journals such as the Journal of Product Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, R&D Management, Journal of Business Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and International Journal of Production Research. He maintains an active presence in the Academy of Management, the European Academy of Management, and the Innovation and Product Development Management Conference.

La sua ricerca si focalizza sul tema dell’Over Featuring, un fenomeno che comprende un insieme di azioni e circostanze che portano allo sviluppo di prodotti e servizi al di là di quanto richiesto dal mercato, dagli utenti e dalle risorse disponibili nelle organizzazioni.

Autore di tre libri e di diversi articoli apparsi su riviste come Technovation, Journal of Business Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Human Resource Management Journal, International Journal of Production Research e Scientometrics. I suoi lavori sono stati presentati a varie conferenze internazionali come l’Academy of Management, l’European Academy of Management e l’Innovation and Product Development Management Conference.

Giacomo Marzi ha maturato esperienza di insegnamento sui temi di Strategia d’Impresa, Innovazione e Gestione Strategica, dal livello Triennale a quello Magistrale, Master e di dottorato. È anche supervisore di studenti di dottorato e assegnisti di ricerca post-doc sulle tematiche di Gestione dell’innovazione, Strategia d’Impresa e Imprenditorialità.
