Design, development and validation of new mathematical models of online social media such as Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. The overall work is intented to extend the current state of the art about the emergence of echo chambers and misinforamtion processes on online social media. Specifically the candidate will work on the data driven modeling of the effect of online narratives such as polarization, engagement and reinforcement. The candidate will be actively involved in the research activitis of the laboratory of computational social science. Tutorship and mentoring of the School's Ph.D. students, limited teaching and participation in the development of the School's research activities.
The candidate must hold a degree in computer science, mathematics or related fields with an outstanding publication records in the field of computational social science and social network analysis in major journals. The candidate must have finished his/her PhD thesis.

Procedure
A Selection Committee, appointed by the Director, assesses all applications on the basis online application info and - if provided - reference letters. Shortlisted candidates, selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis, are invited for a research presentation at IMT. Travel expenses to Lucca for the research presentation interview will not be reimbursed.
Selection Criteria
The evaluation criteria are based on: Quality of research activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and references; Research organization experience and participation in international/national research projects and research periods in public and private institutions (academic and non-academic); Relevance of the candidate's profile for the development of IMT's research activities; Teaching, mentoring and supervision experience; Motivation; Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; As well as any other requirements as specified in the advertisement.
