Activity

Support the development of research activities, projects and educational initiatives in the field of Classical Art and Archaeology carried out at LYNX Research Unit. Support the development of the interdisciplinary research activities and projects carried out at LYNX Research Unit. Participate in- and stimulate collective research projects. Teach courses and seminars at PhD level, supervise PhD Students and support their national and international resarch activities.

Profile

Applicants should demonstrate the capacity for excellent research achievement and the ability to teach effectively in PhD programs. An international scholarly profile and the capacity to attract research funds on a competitive basis are most welcome. The successful candidate will have an excellent and international record of publications in the specific field of Classical Art and Archaeology as well as an interdisciplinary approach to large research problems. A focus on the exchange and migration of techniques, materials, styles and iconographies within the Mediterranean area is most welcome.

Formal requirements

Phd in Classical Art and Archaeology or related fields; research activity with a focus on Ancient Greek Art and the the exchange and migration of techniques, materials, styles and iconographies within the Mediterranean area. International Profile. An excellent level of both written and spoken English is mandatory.

Selection procedure conditions are transparent and are based on international standards.

Procedure

A Selection Committee, appointed by the Rector, assesses all applications on the basis online application info. Applicants selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis are interviewed at the Job Market Meetings in which the Institute is planning to participate, if applicable to the specific academic sector. Alternatively, individual preliminary interviews may also be conducted at IMT or by conference call. Travel expenses to Lucca for the preliminary interview will not be reimbursed. Shortlisted candidates are invited for a Job Market Presentation open to IMT faculty members and students. Travel expenses for the Job Market Presentation will be reimbursed.

Selection Criteria

The evaluation criteria are based on: Quality of research activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and references; Research organization experience and participation in international/national research projects and research periods in public and private institutions (academic and non-academic); Relevance of the candidate's profile for the development of IMT's research activities; Teaching, mentoring and supervision experience; Motivation; Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; As well as any other requirements as specified in the advertisement.
