The researcher will have to carry out research activities in the History of Medieval Philosophy, with particular regard to the transmission of the Greek philosophical cultural heritage to the medieval Arab world and to the transmission in Latin and Italian of the Greek philosophical culture, enriched by Arab contributions, during the Middle Ages.
The researcher will be able to contribute to the teachings for the PhD in Cultural Systems with particular reference to the Track in Analysis and Management of the Cultural Heritage, on topics related to the intercultural transmission of philosophical heritage and the relationship between East and West during the Middle Ages. The researcher will also contribute to the supervision of the PhD students of the School and to other supplementary teaching activities and services to the students, strengthening the educational offer and organizing specialist research seminars on topics of transversal interest to the School in which the PhD students can be appropriately involved.
A solid preparation in the history of philosophy is required, with particular regard to the philosophy of Aristotle and its transmission in Arabic, Latin and vernacular Italian. Particularly appreciated will be the ability to analyze the relationship between philosophy and theology in this period, and to clarify the ways and forms of the relationship that was established between philosophical culture and literary culture during the Middle Ages. Of particular interest will be the ability to analyze and indicate appropriate forms of management of one of the most widespread cultural assets in the West during the Middle Ages, i.e. the manuscript, with particular regard to philosophical manuscripts of Arabic language and origin. It is also envisaged that the researcher will contribute to the strengthening of internal synergies at the IMT School, through interdisciplinary research initiatives, and to the expansion of its external collaborations, through participation in shared research initiatives or communication of research results, increasing in this way the visibility of the School and its national and international attractiveness. The ability to transfer the results of the research to third parties will also be evaluated, with particular reference to the areas of scientific dissemination, school and university guidance, education and training in multiculturalism, respect for diversity and tolerance.

Procedure
A Selection Committee, appointed by the Director, assesses all applications on the basis online application info and - if provided - reference letters. Applicants selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis are interviewed at the Job Market Meetings in which the Institute is planning to participate, if applicable to the specific academic sector. Alternatively, individual preliminary interviews may also be conducted at IMT or by conference call. Travel expenses to Lucca for the preliminary interview will not be reimbursed. Shortlisted candidates are invited for a Job Market Presentation open to IMT faculty members and students. Travel expenses for the Job Market Presentation will be reimbursed.
Selection Criteria
The evaluation criteria are based on: Quality of research activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and references; Research organization experience and participation in international/national research projects and research periods in public and private institutions (academic and non-academic); Relevance of the candidate's profile for the development of IMT's research activities; Teaching, mentoring and supervision experience; Motivation; Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; As well as any other requirements as specified in the advertisement.
