The candidate will be involved in: 1) research activity and management of projects regarding Big Data and its relation with small and medium enterprises, including the management of communication activities. 2) Analysis of impact of green growth policies in cities and socio-economic systems 3) Data analysis and data collection from cities and urban infrastructures, with a focus on energy and material flows. 4) Analysis of impact of new frameworks bridging the manufacturing industry and the makers community within new paradigms based on digitalization (Industry 4.0). Tutorship and mentoring of IMT Ph.D. students, limited teaching in the School's Ph.D. program, and participation in the development of the School's activities.
IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca is searching a research collaborator with a solid background and proved experience in the field of complex systems and data analysis and impact evaluation of complex socio-economic and industrial systems in general. Consolidated experience in energy infrastructures, energy markets, and material flow analysis is also required. In particular the candidate requires experience in numerical simulations, advanced analytical techniques and methods, urban sustainability assessment, and data collection for urban studies. Furthermore the candidate is requested to have experience in low carbon policies for megacities and other large urban environments. Experience in working with utilities and international bodies is desirable. This research is supported by various EC research projects on these topics, and the research will be focused on the delivery of the objectives proposed in these grants.
Experience of research and management of research projects. Experience on analytical and numerical evaluation of measures and policies of green urban infrastructures, with particular focus on energy infrastructures. Modelling of urban flows and experience and knowledge of analysis of complex systems in general is also required. An excellent level of both written and spoken English is mandatory.
Work experience with utilities and international bodies.

Procedure
A Selection Committee, appointed by the Director, assesses all applications on the basis online application info and - if provided - reference letters. Applicants selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis are interviewed at the Job Market Meetings in which the Institute is planning to participate, if applicable to the specific academic sector. Alternatively, individual preliminary interviews may also be conducted at IMT or by conference call. Travel expenses to Lucca for the preliminary interview will not be reimbursed. Shortlisted candidates are invited for a Job Market Presentation open to IMT faculty members and students. Travel expenses for the Job Market Presentation will be reimbursed.
