Education
Currently, Nicholas Caporusso is a Ph.D. Student enrolled in the XXIII PhD program in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at IMT - Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca, Italy.
In July 2004, he received a BS of Information Science (Magna cum Laude) from the University of Bari. His thesis “A Malossi alphabet interface for Deafblind people” was supervised by Prof. Fiorella De Rosis.
In March 2007, he obtained his Master of Information Science (Magna cum Laude) at the University of Bari, Italy. His thesis “Multimodal feedback for portable Brain-Computer Interface systems” was supervised by Prof. Maria Francesca Costabile (University of Bari) and Febo Cincotti (University "La Sapienza" - Rome).

Scientific collaborations
He worked as a research collaborator at I.R.C.C.S. “Fondazione Santa Lucia” (Rome) in the European project MAIA (Non Invasive Brain Interaction with Robots - Mental Augmentation through Determination of Intended Action).
Prior to joining the Ph.D. program in Lucca, he was a research collaborator of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bari in the context of project DIPIS (sponsored by European Union), and he was a Ph.D. Student at the University of Bari (XXIII PhD Program in Computer Science). During his activity at the University of Bari, he has been tutor of the Computer Programming and and of the Computer Architecture courses in the Computer Science undergraduate program.
From March 2009, he is the director of the Scientific Committee of QIRIS, an association devoted to quality, innovation, research, instruction and safety.
From July 2009, he is a research collaborator of the Brain Computer Interfaces lab at the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) - Agency for Science, Technology And Research (A*STAR) in Singapore.
He is (or was) involved within the following research projects and groups:
- Distributed Production as Innovative System (DIPIS), in collaboration with the Information, Visualization, Usability (IVU) research group, University of Bari (Italy).

- Archeometric Analyses Organizer (ArcAn), in collaboration with Centro Interdipartimentale Laboratorio per la Diagnostica dei Beni Culturali, University of Bari (Italy);
Awards
In 2008, he was awarded with the "Best Master Thesis prize" by the Italian Association for Automatic Calculus (Associazione Italiana Calcolo Automatico A.I.C.A.) and Confindustria Servizi Innovativi e Tecnologici.
In 2009, his project "Produzione di un’innovazione tecnologica finalizzata a garantire l’inclusione sociale delle persone cieche e sordocieche" was awarded as one of the winner in the context of "Principi Attivi Regione Puglia".
