Activity

Participation in the ERC Starting Grant CA2PVM research activities related to thermomechanical testing of brittle and ductile materials using multi-resolution (multi-scale) experimental methods. More specifically, activities regard: initial training; mechanical testing of samples inside a scanning electron microscope; roughness measurement with a confocal profilometer; strength and fracture mechanics testing of components; digital thermography; processing of experimental images according to the digital image correlation technique; standard maintenance of the related equipment, especially the SEM; realization of specimens and new experimental setups, when necessary.

Formal requirements

Possession of a 4 or 5-year degree in Materials Science and Technology, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or in a related field. Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.

Specific requirements

A PhD in related scientific areas is preferable. Past experience on the practical use of a scanning electron microscope and knowledge of its maintenance procedure; attitude to perform experimental tests inside a laboratory.

Duration

1 year renewable for a total of 3 years and 10 months (no later than the end of the European Project "CA2PVM - Multi-field and multi-scale Computational Approach to design and durability of PhotoVoltaic Modules")
