Antonio Puggioni

After my graduation in European Legal Studies at the University "La Sapienza" in Rome, with a dissertation in Comparative Public Law, and a research period in India at the Law School of Calcutta and at the Indian Law Institute of Delhi during the spring 2011, I enrolled the Ph.D. in Institutions, Politics and Policies in February 2012.

Deeply interested in the birth and the establishment of juridical systems in extra-Euroamerican contexts (especially Japan and India), I have been working on State-building and democratisation processes in India and Burma.

My Ph.D. project deals with environmental law in an international and comparative constitutional perspective. The object of the thesis is the development of environmental litigation in India, from the rulings of the Supreme Court to the establishment and working of the National Green Tribunal.

Moreover, I am an author for the website Quattrogatti (www.quattrogatti.info), whose purpose is to explain economic and political issues in an easy, yet clear and complete way. Within this project, I am collaborating on institutional reforms in Italy.

In November 2013 I joined the Italian Diplomatic Service. I am currently posted in Rome, at the Service for Legal Affairs, Diplomatic Disputes and International Agreements.

Research Interest

Comparative Constitutional Law (Forms of Government; Minority Rights, in particular Linguistic Rights; Federalism); Environmental Law; Processes of Democratisation; History of Asian Countries.
