Carlo Giuseppe Cirulli received his PhD in Political Systems and Institutional Change at IMT Institute for Advanced Studies in Lucca (December, 2012). For his PhD thesis, under the supervision of Prof. Vivien A. Schmidt (Boston University), he investigated, through the lenses of discoursive and historical institutionalism, the relation between the Italian Communist Party and the European Integration Process.
His research interests include: European studies, Comparative politics, History of political parties with a special focus on European Left.
Carlo Giuseppe Cirulli completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science and International Relations at Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”. Prior to his studies in Lucca, he also obtained the following degrees: Master of Arts in European Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies (College of Europe, 2005); Master in European Parliamentary Institutions and Constitutional History (Università “La Sapienza” - Rome, 2004); Diploma of Expert in Internationalization Process (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade in cooperation with the Superior School of Economics and Finance – Rome, 2007).
His previous work experience familiarized him both with the public and private sector in the field of institutional relations (Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Italian Ministry for Productive Activities, Enel SpA, Slovenske Elektrarne).
Carlo Giuseppe Cirulli is currently working at the Bank of Italy, Internal Audit Directorate.
