Titolo in italiano: Intelligenza artificiale, diritto d'autore e gestione collettiva
administrative law, copyright, artificial intelligence
The selected candidate will contribute to the implementation of the research project "Who Creates? Artificial Intelligence, Copyright, and Collective Rights Management" to conduct a systematic study on the interaction between copyright protection and artificial intelligence (AI), with a focus on the Italian case. Specifically, the researcher will be required to investigate the role that an intermediary in the sector, such as SIAE in its capacity as a collective management organization, could play in this context, both in promoting good practices and legislative initiatives, and in protecting its members' rights. The candidate will also be responsible for legal comparisons between different systems, with particular attention to the French and English ones. The research must have a multidisciplinary character, a distinctive feature of the scientific approach of IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca and the LYNX Research Unit (Center for the Interdisciplinary Analysis of Images, Contexts, Cultural Heritage), requiring the researcher to consider not only the legal framework but also an economic and political perspective.
The researcher will be required to conduct research activities by contributing, through regulatory and jurisprudential analysis, as well as the writing of reports and scientific articles, to the advancement of the project "Who Creates? Artificial Intelligence, Copyright, and Collective Rights Management." The candidate will also need to participate in the development of the School's institutional activities (e.g., organization of seminars, conferences, and other scientific and cultural initiatives) and provide scientific consultancy on the project's topics, if requested by SIAE.
