The latest technological developments in the field of artificial intelligence are offering numerous insights into cultural heritage as it relates to galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM). This seminar focuses in particular on three aspects related to the digital world, visualization, classification, and interface design. By tracing the history of three case studies under development, the idea is to discuss how artificial intelligence contributes to the fruition of large GLAM collections. In particular, the results of the visualization of the entire archive of the Harvard Art Museums will be presented, as well as recent experiments in text analysis and interface design of image and text collections.
