Excitable biological tissues are intrinsically characterized by complex multiscale electrophysiological properties. These dynamics emerge as collective behavior resulting in spatiotemporal excitation waves traveling throughout the tissue and ruling tissue-to-organ functions. The present seminar discusses a comprehensive inspection of current trends in mathematical and computational modeling approaches, starting from experimental evidence and building up whole-organ computational applications.
