A reassessment of the second style paintings of the Villa dei Misteri at Pompeii

The paintings of the Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii are considered one of the earliest examples of the 2nd style in Pompeii. Within the frame of this paper the paintings of the villa will be analyzed in relation to the construction phases of the monument. Then they will be analyzed in relation to the workshop of painters who produced them.
